Create Your Own Weed Out Hate Event |

The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, falls on the third Monday of every January in the United States. It is a time to reflect upon his visions and dreams as well as a day of service. Dr. King was particularly fond of rose bushes. If you happen to live in the sunbelt, what better tribute is their than for you to plant a rose bush in his honor. Generally, you can plant rose bushes any time the ground is not frozen. Contact your local garden center for details which varieties grow best in your area. The anniversary of Dr. King's prophetric Mountain Top speech falls on April 3rd of each year. In 2013, we established National Weed Out Hate Day as an annual event. Weeding Out Hate is an opportunity to connect with Dr. King's great Promised Land vision. Throughout the country, it is also a good time to plant rose bushes. Earth Day, falling on April 22nd, is yet another opportunity to weed out hate. In 2013, U.S. Ambassador Philip Murphy of the U.S. Diplomatic Mission in Berlin, Germany, assembled inspired 100 German students to weed out hate and plant sunflowers, for commemorating the 50th Anniversary of Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" speech. You will find that your city mayors and even state governors will be willing to proclaim "Weed Out Hate" Days, where you live to help get the most impact for your weed out hate event. You can copy this proclamation as a template. |
